Thin Space Art & Theology Journal (Vol. 9)

On Friday, May 10, the MBI Literary Practicum Team released Thin Space Art & Theology Journal (volume 9) at their annual release party. The evening featured live readings and performances, a photo and art gallery, a sensory-rich prayer experience on Matthew 6:9-13, and plenty of charcuterie.

The theme of this year’s edition of Thin Space is “hallowed,” and the journal showcases a beautiful collection of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, photography, visual art, mixed media, and original music—all created by MBI students, faculty, and alumni.

The team described the theme of “hallowed” as follows…

There is a magnitude to our Father, a power that we tread toward carefully.

God’s presence is naturally grand. Yet His love is never ending, creating sacred space.

We can have confidence when approaching the throne in prayer, knowing we are children of Him:

we walk as a friend and as heirs of the venerated King Jesus.

All the angels sing of His holiness;

every breath of ours carries this same adoration:

Hallowed be thy name, our refuge, our Creator, our King, our Father.

As you spend time with the book, you may notice that the entries are subtly (but thoughtfully) organized into three movements: the grandeur of our God, our approach to His throne, and our response of worship. The prayer of this year’s Literary Practicum Team is that volume 9 of Thin Space will be a compelling and creative invitation to adoration.
